Can my ex vaccinate the children without my consent?

My ex and I made the joint decision to stop vaccinating our children 8 years ago.

Since then we have separated.

He says he wants to get them all vaccinated now. I don’t. I’m willing to compromise on a private tailor made vaccine schedule but I want to know where I stand on if he can just take them to the drs and get them vaccinated without me?

I have called the drs and told them. Should I put it in writing too?

Thanks for reaching out.

Strictly speaking your ex-husband cannot get the children vaccinated without your consent. So yes, it may make sense to put this into writing to the GP surgery. If the surgery does it anyway, there won’t be all that much you can do about it but they shouldn’t.

You’ll be aware that if he goes to court, it will most likely go in his favour. So your willingness to compromise is wise. The options will be limited by which vaccines you can get separately – and obviously what you can agree on.
